Board Member Biographies


Professor Kim Foster

Professor Kim Foster is Professor of Mental Health Nursing and leads the Mental Health Nursing Research Unit at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. The unit is a joint partnership between Australian Catholic University and NorthWestern Mental Health (NWMH), Melbourne Health. Kim has an extensive academic background in nurse education and research in metropolitan and regional settings and has achieved numerous awards for her teaching and research. Kim’s primary research interests include emotional intelligence and resilience in the nursing and health workforce; co-associated physical and mental health; and the needs of child and families with challenging physical or mental health conditions.


Kim is a Director on the Board of the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses and is recognised as an Australian mental health nurse leader. She has held several senior governance and leadership roles including Head of School and Deputy Head of School. Kim has general and psychiatric nursing qualifications, and a Diploma of Applied Science (University of Sydney), Bachelor of Nursing (University of New England), Master of Arts (Deakin University), and Doctor of Philosophy (Griffith University).


Associate Clinical Professor Kath Riddell

Associate Clinical Professor Kath Riddell is the Chief Nursing Midwifery Officer at Eastern Health and Executive Director of Learning and Teaching. She has a vision to bring all health professionals together to deliver excellence in practice, embrace learning and transform healthcare.


Kath began her career at Alfred Health. She has a clinical background in critical care nursing, and specialised in trauma intensive care nursing.
